A new Vista to Me .....

Yesterday was a very important day to me. Unlike all the other Saturdays, yesterday was a bit different. It was a day that created a lot of positive effect on me and my life. This blog of mine will retro into that Special Day - the day when there was a Paradigm Shift in the Vista of my life.

Saturday 23 Aug 2008 - As usual I struggled to wake up. But somehow I managed to open my sleepy eyes and started recollecting what I need to do for the rest of the day. Suddenly I remembered that I have planned to go to see the children's of the under privileged sections of the society and the effort of a group of young people, trying and making a change in their life. I was electrified and waves of positive energy stated radiating. I dressed hurriedly and went to BTM, from where I made arrangements to go to that place with an another fellow volunteer. I was right there at the place and luckily on time.

I was accompanied by another friend of mine and we went to the school. On the way, I happened to make a new friend, with whom I shared some wonderful time.

We reached the school around 9'0 Clock. It already got started. We were a group of some 7 people - all young and energetic and was present there with a definite purpose of life. I looked around the school building. It was a small compound with a good stretch of land in front of it. I came to know from one of my friend that this land was donated to the group to support the noble cause of educating the most under privileged section of the society and to help the great cause of eradicating the EVIL of Illiteracy.

I crossed the land and came in front of the door. I just entered my head through the door which was a bit short. But all of a sudden there was loud sound of 'Good Morning Sir'. Never in my life I felt honoured like to this extent. It was shout of joy and sign of new hope to them. The warmth of the sound was instantly felt by me. I at once realised how much energy and vibe this place is filled with and the amount of energy it's creating. I saw small boys and girls who were busy with their drawings. They were also very busy with these scatted pens and pencils and hurried to finish the picture as time was running short. And yes, they were drawing a Postbox which their Teacher explained them. Each and every drawing bears a sense of satisfaction, achievement and pleasure. They seemed so happy with the picture that they were putting into reality and was even putting a great deal of imagination into it. But of all these things, one thing was sure for the rest of life the evil and darkness of the lack of Education was wiped by the Light of Education and self confidence. And it's forever..............

We grouped our self in two and dispatched us to the task of making these little genius aware of HAT,MAT,BAT,RAT and CAT. Well for a technical guy it was not at all a difficult task. For we are quite accustomed to dealing with lengthy Software Specification Documents and making them understand to the rest of Team. But, to our utter surprise we seemed be dumb fooled by the 3 - 4 years old kids. Making them understand these little things took ages for us. I was wondering how the teachers teach these small boys and girls and has all the patience in this world. Our sincerest effort was not very effective in teaching them and we thought of making this session more interactive by luring them with chocolates for anyone who can correctly write the names of the object. This time it was more effective and the results was of more positive.

Many of the kids were so intelligent, that they copied the names of the objects when they were written on the board. And we had to pay a lot of attention that they learnt the correct word. We formed a group of 2 consisting of boys and girls. We called them to the board and asked them to write the name of the object. The first girl looked studious and she correctly wrote down the name of three objects properly out of the four. We all clapped to encouraged the others, who by now, showed a lot of interest, for the incentive was very high for them. After completing both the groups we distributed all the chocolates to them. A wave of joy and happiness slashed them all and they all seemed to be so happy with the small small chocolates.

We bid them goodbye for the day. There was a again an uproar of "Bye Bye Sir". I felt so much warmth at those word. I could understand that it came from the honest and pure souls which will be the cradle of our future generation. We left for the day, all of us feeling so good and happy and a sense of accomplishment ran through our blood.

I was never so much relaxed and was filled with life. I never had the opportunity to come across with so my small minds, the minds that generated so much tenderness and touched my heart and soul. I felt that what ever we did, magnified hundred times and will bring a lot of joy and happiness to all those life we touched. The kindness and love created a harmony that refreshed my body with fresh source of unending joy and energy. Life seemed to create a new vista me.... A new opening though which the first stroke of sunlight en lighted my mind and heart... and the memories of which will be forever sculptured in my heart.

The above few paragraphs are manifestation of joy and happiness that crossed my heart and mind when I first visited ReadIndiaFoundation. It is an Organization run by a group of young IT Professional who is determined to make a difference to the life of those small children who are the future of India. This entire operation is primarily organized and executed by my friend and colleague Viju. I have never seen such a enthusiastic and positive personality in my life so closely.
